How to Find a Teacher
The school are happy to take enquiries about individual tuition and will refer students to an appropriate teacher.
Nelson School of Music Students The annual scholarships are awarded each year for a wide variety of instruments and levels of ability.
Students' performance are assessed by visiting adjudicators who are experts in musical performance and education. Each student receives a written report with constructive positive comments about their performance.
The scholarship prizes are awarded from bequests held in trust and local sponsorship. Only enrolled students of the school can participate.
Visit our events page for further details.
Annual Scholarships
Every year there are around 15 annual scholarship places made available covering a variety of instruments. Only enrolled students who are quite proficient or students with 2 years or less of tuition, may apply for these.
Scholarship assessments occur in June of each year over a special concert weekend. The student concert is held in the Conservatoire before a panel of eminent adjudicators from all over New Zealand.
The placement decisions are based on the standard of individual student performance. For more information, or to make an application please talk to us.
